Warbgasm

Also known as Daniel Warburton, Warbgasm hails from the North of England and has a bright future ahead if his first EP on Hypercolour Recordings is anything to go by. Gaining support from the likes of Lee Jones, Patrice Baumel, Stimming, Will Saul, Plasmik, Milton Jackson, Quarion, Funk D'Void, and Laurent Garnier amongst others, 'Influenza' made it onto Lee Jones' beautiful Resident Advisor podcast, whilst 'Dead Arm' is featured on the very first Warung Brazil compilation mixed by the 16 Bit Lolitas. iDJ Magazine described the EP as "one of those timeless pieces that will sound good 10 years either side of today".

Along with Hypercolour, his tracks and remixes can also be found on Minimal People Inc, Variance, and Minimar Recordings. Which all started in 2007 with his first digital only EP which was released on Barcelona based label Minimar, titled Stiff Neck EP and featuring the tracks Bad Kipper and Stiff Neck.

Drawing influences from a wide variety of music, Warbgasm's sound flirts mostly between House and Techno with an emphasis on warm, emotive and almost cosmic sounds and melodies.

DJ wise has so far seen him play various venues throughout the UK, from The Magnet, O2 Academy, and various warehouses in Liverpool to Ministry Of Sound in London, playing alongside such names as Reboot, Ame, Will Saul, Adam Beyer, Steve Lawler and Nathan Fake, with many more to come by the looks of things. 2010 will also see him as new resident for Aztec in Liverpool.

Early critical acclaim came from DJ Magazine commenting on a track of his heard on his MySpace “Sounding like ants on acid...He sounds like Matthew Dear's Audion project, We're suprised to know he is still unsigned...Labels, get in touch with him please”. John Digweed also picked up on a remix he did of X-Press 2's 'Kill 100', playing it on his 'Best of 2007' Transitions show on international radio station Kiss.

With more releases forthcoming in 2010, and more ambient and experimental releases under the name Varium - the future is starting to look very strong for Warbgasm.
