Homeboy
Homeboy is one of the rare “true to the school” House producers from Croatia: one of those who didn't just get up on the new wave of the nineties house, but are living the music every day. Starting with releases for Speak Recordings, he has also produced for Burek and lately Hypercolour. His style is always in movement, from experimental, modern forms to the more classical approach, but it always has the right feel to it.
Homeboys real name is Marko Pelaić. He grew up playing drums in various bands and projects between Germany and Croatia. He studied recording arts at the SAE in Frankfurt, where he visited the Robert Johnson Club in Offenbach on regular basis. At that time he was strongly influenced by German House music. After finishing his studies he moves to Zagreb and starts working as an Audio Engineer and Recording Artist, recording music for the local underground band scene. In 2010. his work has been nominated for the Croatian discography award “Porin”.
Homeboy performs his music live. He has been on stage since the age of 17, when he started touring with his band across the country. For his performance Homeboy uses a laptop wired to various synthesisers, drum machines and FX. His live sets are described as eclectic journeys through the world of electronic dance music, often playing with the boundaries of different genres like House, Techno, Electro, Funk or even Rock music.
